Today I have a fun DIY Bunting Project that Summer from Fawn & Forest put together
for Issue 9 of La Petite! You definitely want to check out Issue 9, which just came out last
week! Also, be sure to come back tomorrow as we will be having the Giveaway from Issue
9 on the blog from Fawn & Forest!
store. The stiffness helps the bunting keep it shapes and is easy to work with)
1 pack of round wood disk twill tape or ribbon – I used about 8 feet
craft paint & a brush thread (for sewing) & string (for attaching the wood disks)
hot glue & gun
on each side to obtain a nice even color.
3. Make the Flags:
Create a template (which is super easy to free hand) & trace template onto
the stiffened felt using a white colored pencil.
Next, cut out the pieces. I was able to get 2 flags out of 1 sheet of felt,
8 pieces in total.
4. Create the Bunting:
Sew the felt pieces onto the twill tape (or ribbon) using a sewing machine or by hand.
Alternately, you could also use hot glue.
5. Attach the Wood Disks:
To give the wood disks a nice dangle off of the bunting, thread a needle with 6″ of string.
Create a tidy triple knot at the end and sew into the bottom point of the flag. Remove the
needle & use the leftover thread to attach the wood disk. Neatly hot glue the wood disk
to the string, about 1″ from the bottom of the flag. Repeat until all wood disks are attached.
Alternately, you could hot glue the whole thing, but I like the look of the knot. Remember to
keep it nice & tidy as the round disk dangle around and show their backside.
6. Hang up!
Hang the bunting on the wall using thumbtacks – fun!
